Ladies and gentlemen, I have a wee confession to make. Contrary to popular belief, I am not this fabulous creature that you see before you. In fact half of the time I am make up free, have frizzy wild hair and look like I have been camping in the woods for months on end. In other words, when people tell me I am 'elegant' and glamorous it makes me laugh because it is pretty clear that they haven't seen me when I am at home or need to nip to Tesco's. I feel sorry for the poor late night staff that have to deal with seeing me in my bedraggled state, in fact the one time I came in and was dolled up I am pretty sure they did a double take, as though I looked like a completely different person! ... read more

The Hidden Dangers Of Working In An Office Environment
Many of you know me as a crazy, plain speaking blogger who is unafraid to speak her mind, but in a brief, short life I worked in a corporate office environment, where each day was as dull as the next. When I first began working in marketing and journalism, I was passionate about writing and using social media to elevate our brand to the next level. But like most workplaces, I had a boss to answer to and that boss was adamant that 'digital media', especially finding influencers to promote our brand was not the way forward. Eventually their brand crashed and burned because they did not analyze audience metrics to determine the best way to promote their brand and our suggestions often fell upon ... read more
Faded Spring’s Dream Kitchen Wishlist
The older I get, the more excited I feel about interior design and trust me, you wouldn't have got that answer out of me five years ago! Although I grew up helping my foster mum with chores around the house such as painting, interior map plans and storage removal, something I saw as a 'chore' was never something to be enthused about. But after moving 8 times in the last 5 years and counting, the variety of houses and flats that I have lived in have made me yearn for my own forever home. From mapping out my dream bedroom, right through to my outdoor wishlist, it is clear that Faded Spring has been infected with a touch of 'the interior design crazy' but whats not to love? After all it might ... read more
Faded Spring’s Car DIY Guide For Modern Women
It might seem strange me giving advice about cars considering A. I don't own a car and B. I have never had a single driving lesson but believe it or not between the ages of 15- 17 I had a fascination with cars and couldn't wait to own my very own special car. I was so excited for my 17th believing that I would get driving lessons so that I didn't have to wait for hours to 'travel' as I lived in the 'neck of the woods' as I liked to call it and transport was 'crap'. Sadly that much wished for '17th Birthday' present never transpired and when I moved to London, my dream of owning a car was long gone. Truth be told living in the big city means that I have 24/7 transport links and with my ... read more
Dating Disasters With Hal: I Was Stood Up!
When I first started the series 'dating disasters' I was curious to see into my readers lives and learn a little more about their own dating disasters. For me my worst first date was with a guy who was egotistical, vain and mentioned marriage, sex and children all in the same breath. For Yvonne, she was lucky enough to find a stellar boyfriend after she babysat someone else's kid during the last and final date. But for many singletons like Hal and me, we are still in search of finding the one. The notion of the 'one' is a rather vague concept, after all how can we find eternal love with just one person? Nevertheless searching for our loved ones is a process us hopeless romantics have not ... read more

Learning To Be Body Positive With Simply Beach Swimwear
From a young age I have struggled with my body image; I have a disorder known as BDD (Body Dysmorphic Disorder ) which alters my perception of how I see myself in the mirror and how I 'believe' others see me. I grew up with poor self confidence; I was abused by my stepmother and bullied throughout my teenage and young adult years, for the way that I looked, including being 'too skinny' for societies personal tastes. I was called anorexic, skinny, scrawny and a bag of bones to name a few and was often taunted for having 'small boobs' because according to the bullies I looked like a 'boy'. The more people were negative about my weight, the more I became obsessed about the way I looked, ... read more

Faded Spring’s Thoughts On Marriage
I was never one who dreamed of having a fairytale wedding growing up and in fact was quite the opposite. I opposed the idea of 'marriage' because I believed that you didn't need a piece of paper to prove that you loved someone. I saw marriage as a 'money trap' but as I grew older I realized that my opposition against marriage was because of how A. I had never been in love, B. saw how disastrous the majority of marriages had turned out in my family and C. was never taught to see marriage in a positive light. With the exception of my dad, my uncle and my distant cousin, marriages were violent, damaging and dramatic in my family. Even the marriages that have stood the test of time have been a ... read more
