It was the moment I had been waiting for all my life; acknowledgement that my passion and dedication to writing was proving fruitful. Since I was a little girl writing became the one friend I could turn to that listened to me without judgement. As human beings it seems as though we have automated 'critique buttons' that make us constantly undermine the people around us but my pen never did that to me. It taught me to love and loathe in equal measure and gave me the strength to be whole again. But I didn't always want to write; growing up I had dreams of becoming a singer one minute and the next I believed that teaching was my calling. I used to write from the sidelines as a hobby, cultivated ... read more

The Quest For Perfect Eyebrows
Since I was a little girl I have been on the quest for perfect eyebrows; growing up I was bullied because I had naturally thick and unruly dark eyebrows that I was told were making me look 'masculine'. I would be called names and peers would point and laugh at my unibrow because I was not allowed to pluck, tweeze or thread any body hair as I was told I was not old enough. When I was a child I thought nothing of my body hair, dressing up in skirts and unaware of my facial hair and how others would perceive it. It wasn't until secondary school that I realized how 'different' it made me and growing up in a predominantly white school, my heritage was seen as alien and familiar. So I discovered ... read more

Glastonbury 2009 Highlights
2009, the year that shook the nation and flung them into cold despair and angst. Micheal Jackson the one and only King of Pop had died dancing his way into the afterlife, leaving fans mourning his loss. I was one of those fans, having performed in stage school as a child Micheal Jackson was one of my biggest inspirations and he taught me that being different meant that I was talented and I stood shell shocked at the news of his loss. A celebrity death has never affected me as much as his and in my eyes there will never be another King of Pop. It was a mournful period but I did not wallow for a long for another period of celebrating music fell into my lap; Glastonbury's record breaking 2009 ... read more

Confessions Of A Spendaholic
Since I was a young girl my biggest vice was spending money because it made me feel empowered and allowed me to escape my personal problems. From clothes to eating out I would swipe my card without a care in the world only to come crashing back to reality when my money ran out. Ever since I became a blogger I have had periods where I have spent a lot of money one week only to go on a hiatus the week after. I no longer spend money on clothes anymore because I don't need any more clothes but what I do spend money on is travel and food. I have to travel to London nearly everyday because of the nature of my work and subsequently spend money on eating out because I will be out all day. The costs ... read more
