Like the famous saying goes ‘ I’m an all or nothing girl’ and when it comes to ‘nights out’ I am dressed up to the nines. Its ironic to say the least that I will probably be the ‘most overdressed’ person for any occasion, especially when I am at home I am a massive slob. When people tell me its hard to believe I laugh because really the only time I wear makeup or ‘dress up’ is either for shoots or nights out at clubs, casinos, bars and events. The rest of the time I will be make-up free, in comfy mismatching clothes and warm fluffy socks and do you know what I don’t care because who is going to see me when I am at home anyway? Apart from my poor housemates, god bless their souls; but I digress I recently came across online casino games that made me nostalgic for my former university years. You see back when I had a little money to spare we used to go to casinos, my friends and I and place our bets in a variety of settings. Whether that be Poker or Blackjack, we staked our bets and let the cheap thrill of the game fill us with joy. I never dabbled in what I would call ‘hardcore gambling’ but playing in the casinos were one step up from the two penny machines I used to play in on our caravan holidays. But then university was over and we went back to our regular ‘adult lives’ and learnt how to ‘adult’ for real. When I came across online casino games, I could feel the excitement building up again and it showed me that I could still indulge in online blackjack, from the comfort of my own home, mismatched jammies and all!
That being said, while online casino games are fun, nothing beats the thrill of dressing up and quite literally splashing your cash to ‘make that money rain’. I was never an amazing player I have to point out but the fact was that it made a welcome change from ‘university nights out’ where everyone was rat arse drunk. For some reason the casinos felt more refined, sophisticated and I could be free to mold myself into some irresistible vixen with an appetite for ‘games’. Probably my most favourite part of our annual ‘casino nights out’ was finding outfits that matched the polished exterior of the casinos we would be visiting. Of course since I was always overdressed, fashion rules about what you should and shouldn’t wear did not matter one toot to me and still don’t, after all if you want to wear a ballgown then you go for it girl! The point being is what you wear to a casino night out should not be limited to what fashion deems as being on trend, so as long as you are comfortable that is all that matters. I am well due a casino night out and I’ll be damned if I step out looking less than overdressed, LOL.
The Silver Vixen
The Silver Vixen practically eats men for breakfast. She’s a good host but you can bet your last penny that she will make sure to win the game, no matter what it costs. She exudes confidence and loves nothing more than revelling in attention, especially when everyone is so busy being charmed by her feminine wiles that she can go ahead and steal the game from right under their noses. The Silver Vixen is infamous in casino lore and some may even call her a ‘Bond Girl’ in disguise but that would just be insulting her. Smart, independent and strong the Silver Vixen is a rare spotted sight but her usual hangouts extend to the more ‘exclusive’ casinos, where the money really gets a’flowing. Now she is no golddigger so mind your tongue, as this Casino girl worked hard to get where she is now and all this ‘money’ she happens to be throwing into the air is nothing more than a reminder of how far she has come since her early school days. She may have been bullied once but this sensual character is now more comfortable in her own skin because of her classmates transgressions.
How To Style The Silver Vixen ‘look’
Despite its name ‘the silver vixen’ does not refer to the colour of her dress. Rather it is more about choosing an outfit that makes you feel sexy and empowered. Because I am petite, a bodycon dress accentuates and exaggerates curves, while the sweetheart neckline and off the shoulder sleeves stops the dress from looking too ‘sleazy’ and instead makes the ‘Silver Vixen’ look ‘classic’. The key to nailing the ‘silver vixen’ is to find a dress/jumpsuit/ playsuit that is simple in design, while keeping the accessories to a minimum as well.

Old Hollywood Glamour
This Hollywood Starlet (Wannabee) yearns for Old Hollywood Movie marathons, after a successful night at the casinos. Unlike the Silver Vixen, Old Hollywood Glamour is less about ‘winning the game’ but about winning the ‘style critics over instead’. Its been a while since she made her grand entrance and her Old Hollywood style is winning over the judges left, right and centre. But don’t be fooled, she is just as independent and as instrumental rather than ornamental like her predecessor the Silver Vixen. She looks sweet and is soft spoken but the Hollywood Starlet knows her worth and barks back if you bite. She’s not one to take fools gladly but at the same time is traditional in her tastes. She stays away from online games because she’s old fashioned to the bone and all her clothing comes from eras bygone. The Hollywood Starlet counts Audrey Hepburn among her classic movie idols and draws inspiration from her for both style and movie taste.

How To Style The Old Hollywood Glamour Look
Your key materials are satin, velvet and dashings of faux fur and in this instance I have chosen crepe-satin as a vocal point of the ‘Old Hollywood Glamour Look’. A slip dress is typically nineties, although a maxi version with ruched detailing and a split leg fits the 50’s ‘red carpet aesthetic’ best. Keep accessories as ‘accent hues’ such as blush, ceramic pink and nude if your going for an ‘all pink’ look whereas a more typical red could be paired with scarlet, burgundy and ruby accent hues.
The Lady In Red
This Diva likes to defy convention with her ‘styling choices’. From wearing tuxes with trainers to wearing formal jumpsuits with perspex boots, The Lady In Red is a bit of a wildcard. Seeing ‘red’ as the colour of all things passion, love and of course danger, The Lady In Red plays fast and lives fast. She has no time for idle chit chat and like the Silver Vixen hates the thought of losing, especially when she is one of the best players in the game. Unlike the Vixen though, she has no time for romantic dalliances and lives her life as a lone wolf. But she dosen’t mind, she finds romance distracting and hates conforming to said ‘conventional society standards’. She plays at home when the streets are quiet but her best games are played in the biggest casinos in the world, blending into the background as she adopts one disguise after the other. You could call her a shape shifter, but her clothing choices are never incidental but ‘accidental’. If fashion was an aspect of her personality then it would be rebellion because you never know what she will wear next.
How To Style ‘The Lady In Red’
The key to nailing the lady in red, is to A. wear something other than a dress and B. layer or accessorize in a surprising way. For example, a formal jumpsuit is usually paired with heels and a classic updo but in this instance a 70’s floppy hat and black perspex boots stops the outfit from looking too formal, whereas the faux fur shrug still keeps the look sophisticated.

Ok Ana, you look stunning in all of the outfits. For some reason, I really love you in the first one. It’s such a mixture of daring and beauty all at the same time. I know every guy’s eye would turn to you as you entered the room. I know that you are all about being yourself and this epitomizes you. But then again you look absolutely stunning in all of the outfits. I would definitely be asking you for a dance (despite my two left feet), should I run into you on a casino night in any of those outfits.
