Watches. Crisp, clean cut, elegant, the ultimate epitome of sophistication. No two watches are the same but it takes a ‘good watch’ to change up the ‘game’. Don’t know what I mean by the game? Well the fashion game of course; what outfit is complete without a watch to set you apart from the rest of the ‘style wannabees’? The whole world races through life, the swift tick of their watch documenting their every move and capturing it in the imprint of time. The soft hum-drum of the ticking clock goes 1,2,3 but in the sea of generic watches lies a hidden gem, a watch collection so different that its very creation is a separate trend in itself. Ever heard of JORD watches? Well guess what their watches are taking the world by storm so you better wake up and smell the coffee, I promise you its going to be big!
Sustainable? Tick. Highly Efficient? Double Tick. Values experiential living? Even better, JORD watches are made for ‘people who don’t just have somewhere to be, they have somewhere to go’, no other watch brand takes ‘active living’ quite literally. Made from sustainable wooden materials, JORD is not your average delicate little wallflower. JORD is sturdy and made to last and each timepiece is personalized and tailored to your measurements to get the best fit. It is the first watch collection that I came across who created ‘personalized requests’ but regarding the nature of the wooden materials used to fashion the watch it makes complete sense. Because of the heaviness of wood it tends to be harder to create a ‘one size fits all’ algorithm thus by measuring your wrist beforehand you can ensure that you get a watch that fits like a glove.
I was suitably impressed by the excellent customer service and in particular the PR who had contacted me regarding a collaboration with JORD watches, ensuring that my every needs were met without going overboard with questions. More to the point the actual range of watches was enough to make my first ‘JORD ‘ purchase a roaring success. Many of the watches caught my eye but it was two watches in the ‘Cora’ and Frankie series that won over my heart. A quick look at my style posts and Instagram feed will show you that I have three favourite colours; burgundy, pastel pink/rose gold and baby blue. Now normally my preference for watch colours tends to reside firmly in the land of rose gold because lets face it how can you not love rose gold? That being said autumn/winter fashion tends to see me reach for burgundy, pumpkin and khaki separates thus a burgundy watch was needed to feed into the seasonal autumnal palette. Out of the Cora Purpleheart & Mother of Pearl and the Frankie Purpleheart and Plum JORD Watches the latter was resolutely my favourite and I was disappointed to find out it had sold out.
Nestled in a large wooden box was the watch that dreams were made from and my longing for the Purpleheart and Plum watch quickly dissipated. It was elegant and illustriously crafted but best of all it was burgundy. A rich aubergine hue that would sit right at home with the rest of my burgundy orientated accessories, clothing and shoes. In short it was the very definition of perfection and has not left my wrist ever since. We all fall in love but rarely do I fall in love and not feel the attraction waver momentarily. I have lost count of the amount of times that I have fallen in love with an article of clothing only to wear it once and forget about it until my annual clearout. With JORD its an entirely different matter, the watch is a guardian of time sure but most of all it is a visual feast for the ‘colour gods’. If only the colour gods were watching right now because how pleased would they be?
