With the success of Olivia Buckland’s collaboration last year, it came as no surprise that Quiz Clothing were drawn to blonde bombshell Gabby Allen, from the Love Island Class of 17′. With her love of ‘dramatic ruffles’, penchant for the colour red and dazzling model looks, it seemed like Gabby would make the perfect endorsement for a brand who is renowned for working with blonde bloggers and models like Olivia Buckland, Jess Hunt and Polly Merchant, so naturally Gabby would feel right at home. But how could Quiz and Gabby differentiate their Gabby Allen X Quiz collection from the overwhelming success of their collaboration with Love Island success story Olivia Buckland? While there are similarities like the asymmetrical wrap dresses and sequin’s permeated throughout the collection there are also distinctive differences too. With similarities to Culpo’s collaboration with Pretty Little Thing, there are elements of Mediterranean glamour , with ruffled flamenco style shorts, floral tee’s and a distinctive colour palette of black, gold and red, with the odd white, rose gold and forest green being thrown in too.

The Gabby Allen X Quiz collection also focuses on three key materials to tie into the upcoming festive season: brocade or embroidery, sequins and velvet, all in the luxurious colour scheme of black, gold, white, red and green. While I myself have a penchance for velvet and sequins, the brocade range featured across playsuits, jumpsuits, dresses and bodysuits are surprisingly wearable for daywear too. Shot in the glorious location of Marrakesh, its easy to see how Moroccan influences are hidden throughout the Gabby Allen X Quiz collection too; the decadent brocade detailing on the black and gold playsuits and jumpsuits, use embroidery that can bear similarity to the traditional ‘Takchita’ which is a layered kaftan with brocade or velvet detailing. Except unlike The Takchita which is usually floor length, the Gabby Allen X Quiz collection is short and tight fitting as opposed to the loose flowing traditional attire that Morocco is known for.
So when the Quiz baes invited me to their Gabby Allen X Quiz collection launch to have a meet and greet with Gabby Allen and Marcel Rocky, alongside an exclusive look at Gabby’s collection in Westfield Stratford, it was an offer that I could hardly refuse. With unicorn inspired donuts emblazoned with edible stickers and goody bags containing makeup, sweets and stickers,it looked like the night had got off to a good start. Marcel sadly had prior engagements to attend to, so me and Z only managed to see him for 5 minutes, but we did see Gabby, who happily posed for a series of photos with us both, which you may have seen on my Insta stories. Dressed in a black sequin dress from her collection, she praised my choice of wearing her forest green velvet wrap dress and was as nice in person as she had been on TV. As the event was open to the public, Gabby was posing up a storm with all the parents and school children that had come in to see her and proved to be a professional spokesperson for the Quiz Clothing brand.
Complete with a competition to win free gifts in a wind turbine where you try and collect ‘gold notes’ and the Quiz social team on hand to offer advice about the collection and a look at what trends you should be wearing this season, the event launch proved to be a successful and informative evening. Although Gabby is in the stages of ‘creating a second drop’ with Quiz Clothing which promises more ‘glitz and glamour’ than the first, sadly all other details were hush hush, but judging by the censored snaps on social media, I can without a question of a doubt confirm that iridescent sequins will feature heavily throughout the collection, proving that maximalism is still bang on trend this festive season. While there is no ‘due date’ as of yet, there is a party in November that I have been pre-invited to, so there will be more news in the upcoming weeks.

Although the first collection preview demonstrated how Quiz could incorporate their signature ‘style’ and infuse it with Gabby’s signature colour schemes i.e black and gold and red and white, I am looking forward to seeing how the second drop will deviate away from casual-formal wear and curate styles that can be worn to festive functions like New Year, Christmas work parties and whether there will be any knitwear options to really lend a ‘festive feel’ to the collection. And besides as much as I love ‘dresses’, it would definitely be nice to not be cold for once haha! But the treats were not over yet; despite having enough selfies to last us a lifetime, the Quiz gang also treated all the media guests to some much needed goodies and I don’t just mean the awesome goody bag either.
To thank us for coming, the media were allowed to choose items from both the Gabby Allen X Quiz Clothing range and the normal Quiz collection. As I had already been gifted ‘Gabby Allen products’, I decided to take a look at the normal Quiz clothing range and thought about what essentials were lacking from my over-flowing voluminious wardrobes , that I didn’t already have. I had a lot of shoes, dresses and accessories but my coat collection, although vast did not have ‘warm coats’ that would tide me over throughout the bitter cold wind that would lash out at me throughout winter, thus it was decided that coats would be the order of the day.The first was a faux leather embroidered pink jacket -which is on sale ladies- in a stunning hue of ceramic pink, which would go well with autumnal, transitional outfits, to keep me warm but not smother me, whereas the second jacket was a teddy bear coat designed for winter. Out of the two the second would most definitely be the warmest and was the most beautiful shade of rose/blush pink and of course being a vegetarian, cruelty free.
