It seemed like just yesterday that two feline angels came into her life. They were her mental health warriors, her champions of life, nuzzling into the furrows of her clothes. For A had been drowning in sadness for a long time, swept away by trauma, grief, and loss. Loved ones that came and went, plunged into the throes of eternal rest, jobs gone, people forgotten. Through the mental health struggles, the deaths, and obstacles she had overcome, the cats were her constant. Just a purr away, their glossy coats winked conspiratorily, imploring her to come closer. Their fur was fluffy, and soft, begging to be stroked, and petted. To A, her cats were a huge part of her mindful self-care routine. Why? Because they made her laugh, they made her smile. So naturally, she conjured up a colourful cat gift guide, where her precious babies would be pampered with treats, and accessories.
Two feel good kitties, deserved bold and quirky gifts, and she was determined to make them purr in satisfaction. Loki, her big boy, was a rescue cat, taken from a life on the streets. Noone knew how long he had been on the streets, but they knew that he had an owner once. After all, he had a calm docile personality, where nothing seemed to faze him. Despite the trauma he had been through, he was a cat with so much love to give. He had glossy black fur, tinged with white, luminiscient green eyes peering out of his majestic face. He would cock his ears as you whispered his name, stretching out, as he joined you on the sofa. Blinking slowly, the look in his eyes was one of pure love. He had found his forever home, and his contentment was visible.
Then there was Luna, a 5 month old kitten, who had almost doubled in size since you had got her. Before, she could fit into the palm of your hand, a little scamp. But now, she was growing into a mini-tiger, who had oodles of personality. She was firey, yet sweet, and brought out the playful, youthful side in Loki. Together, they were the perfect brother, and sister duo. They matched each other exactly. Loki taught her to be calm, and Luna taught him to find his inner child. He was between 1-2 years old, and when they first got him, he was calm, yet unsure of himself. Now, he was thriving, no longer crying in the middle of the night, if he was on his own. The growth in both of them, from now until then, was incredible. It’s why they deserved to be pampered, the two of them treated like the royalty that they were.
Sure A put them up on a pedestal. She always would. Why? Because cats were emphatic, intelligent, and curious creatures. They were inquisitive, and intutitive. When A was ill, and found it hard to get out of bed, they were taking care of her, nuzzling with wet noses. When A was having a panic attack, or crying beyond repair, they rubbed her leg, and let out plaintative meows. As for the grief A had in recent times, they were soliders, bellies outstretched for cuddles and love. In some ways, she always found that animals could comfort her better than humans could. There was no judgement, or uncalled for opinions, instead there was unwavering loyalty. People often said that cats were not loyal, but A knew that to not be true. Because her cats were unflinchingly there for her, no matter what. It’s why, she was passionate about standing up for animals, and their rights.
A wasn’t the only one. She had friends who had said the same. That their cats helped them through rock bottom. That without them they would be lost. It gave them a sense of purpose, motivation to get up. A knew only too well what they were talking about. Dealing with anxiety, and struggling with depression, meant that her mental health was difficult to deal with. Her depression wanted her to stay in bed, and her anxiety got her out of bed. But the two didn’t mix very well. Still, it wasn’t all negative. Even when A was feeling low, there were two things that would bring her joy, always. Cats, and colour. So why not combine the two, and create a colourful cat gift guide for cat lovers, that was sprinkled with positivity? There would be personalized feeding bowls for cats, that would be engraved with their names. A quirky carrot scratcher, would soon become their favourite plaything. And how about the quirky pet subscription brand, that would make all their nutritional dreams come true?
From bold gifts for cats, that would put a pep in their step, to ‘purrrfect’ gifts for hoomans, here are 10 magical gift ideas, that just happen to be colourful.
For Cats
Loki, and Luna helped her on this one. Peering into their colourful cat bowl of dreams, they found the sweet spot. The right mix of unique gifts for cats that included food, bowls, and the quirkiest accessories. On their watch, A spotlighted the colourful mavens, one listicle at a time. But who would make their entry into A’s soon to be infamous cat gift guide? Only time would tell, but for now the two cats conspired eagerly, testing out their favourite treats with glee. With a wave of a magical feline wand, the list was complete, the most colourful of treats that would have them begging for more.
Colourful Cat Food That Is Purrrfect
Vet’s Kitchen® Little Hearts
If there was one thing that Loki and Luna loved more than anything, it was food. Oh how they championed it, stealing morsels from human plates. They would dive head first into their bowls, devouring food hungrily. And who could forget the sharp meows in the morning. Like clockwork, they would function like alarm clocks, imploring the humans to wake up. After all, it was an audacity to not get fed at 5 o’clock in the morning. Could you imagine such a thing? Still, A couldn’t help but want to make their food dreams come true. I mean look at them? They were a freaking delight.
After all, lovely cats deserved lovely treats. And what could be lovelier than Vets Kitchen® cat food, whose little hearts were oh-so delicious. Just ask Loki and Luna, they were always begging for more! Designed to deliver real health benefits to help your cat live a long and healthy life, it just happened to be colourful too. With delicious natural ingredients and no added artificial additives, Vet’s Kitchen Little Hearts were not just lovely tasting, but had health benefits too. Naturally nutritious, each recipe was hypoallergenic with active ingredients to support your cat’s well-being as part of their daily calorie allowance.
There were two tasty flavours, and the kitties were divided on preference. On one hand, Loki wolfed down the tasty chicken, and duck kibble like there was no tomorrow. With more than 50% real meat, along with added cellulose to reduce fur balls and improve dental health, it was a game changer. On the other hand Luna was obsessed with the salmon and trout variety, that was oh so succulent. With 34% salmon and trout, it contained omega 3, and 6, for a healthier coat. As if that wasn’t enough, there were prebiotics, and probiotics to support digestive health. The cats were more than pleased. In fact, A had to head to her local Pets At Home, to get some more. That’s how much the kitties enjoyed the heart-shaped treats.
Republic Of Cats
Speaking of treats, Republic of Cats had it in spades. Colourful, nutritious, and personalized, Republic of Cat’s bold subscription box was a feast for the senses. Imagine how overjoyed Loki was, getting to sample a plethora of dry, and wet food, that was tailored to his nutritional needs. He rubbed his human Ana’s leg affectionately, and begged her to hop online. His yellowish-green eyes widened expressively, as he meowed playfully, clamouring for attention. Ah! Now she could see what he was after. She needed to fill out Republic of Cat’s quick and easy quiz, to get the best tasty delicacies for Loki’s diet.
Once she had chosen his breed, age, feeding plan, and goals, they had curated a ‘taster pack’, that would have Loki feeling his oats. After all, a beautiful kitty deserved delicious food, that would make him shiny, glossy, and sheeny. Did Republic of Cats achieve that? You bet! With his goals including to have ‘better smelling poops’, help losing a few pounds, and decreased shedding, how would this quirky box fare? With personalized portions, he would need 1 tablespoon of dry food, and a can of wet food a day. A always supplemented his meals with treats as well, but even so he always ended up eating some of Luna’s food too!
Sadly as she was a kitten, she wasn’t old enough to have her own tailored plan. Yet, that didn’t stop her, waving her tail excitedly as Republic of Cat’s parcel arrived. She was inquisitive, sniffing the packs of food, and wrinkling her nose at the litter. The litter at least she could try, and she gave it a big thumbs up. Loki too, as it felt softer on his toebeans, and had less dust, than the previous cat litter they used. But now, onto the most exciting part, the food. Would Loki, her unproblematic king be pleased, or furious with her? Though he was unsure on the biscuits at first, he quickly got into the habit of wolfing them down. He would look at Ana, with disappointment in his eyes, hoping she would give him more biscuits.
She didn’t blame him. After all a colourful cat gift guide without tasty biscuits, was like a cow without its moo. The crunchy kibble blend was packed with lean chicken, turkey and poultry (33%). Infused with prebiotics for Loki’s gut health, it even helped with teeth and gums too. Though Loki had great teeth already, it didn’t hurt having extra tender loving care. Yet, Ana could definitely say without a shadow of a doubt, that Loki’s coat had become more shiny, healthy and glossy. When they adopted him, he was shiny, but this was on another level. It was like they had sprinkled him in glitter, and turned him into a sheeny boujiee kitty.
Loki’s favourite without a shadow of a doubt, was the wet food. There were gravies and stews, pates, and shredded pieces. For Loki, he adored the chicken and liver gravy and stew, and the chicken and pork pate the most. That made sense given that he was a chicken fiend. Anytime that Ana’s partner Dan would buy ham or chicken slices, he would jump up with glee snatching meat. He had the same reaction with the wet food, scampering onto the kitchen worktop. There were other magical flavours to try as well: Salmon Gravy, Fish PÂTÉ, Chicken Shredded Pieces, and Tuna Shredded Pieces. Delicious, hydritious and mega sustainable, Ana could hardly believe that there were more flavours than days of the week.
KatKin Fresh Cat Food
As for flavour, the kitties were flavour hunters. If they didn’t like something, they voiced their concern. So Ana was intrigued to try something new. Fresh food that was healthy, for a happy pair of kitties. While they had not tried fresh food before, A was sure they would love it. And so KatKin entered the chat, with personalized vet-formulated cat food. Frozen fresh, and delivered to your door, you could build your own vibrant box. Besides, as her kitties would say, you couldn’t have a colourful cat gift guide without some fresh food! Only the best for her gorgeous felines.
Like Republic of Cats, she would take a short quiz, to tailor their food plan. With fresh food for kittens, and adult cats, both kitties would be placated. While Loki’s goal was to lose some weight, and shed less, Luna’s goal was to boost her immune system. Both kitties also had a shared goal to have better smelling poop, and well-portioned nutritious meal. Thus the fairies at KatKin sent over some frozen treats, that could be popped into the fridge or freezer. Because there was no food preservatives in the meals, freezing the meals would lock in its nutritious flavour. Plus, the fresh meals were suitable for young kitties like Luna! With 100% real meat, the meals were gently steamed, so that they were easy to digest for young tummies.
Admittedly at first the kitties were wary. After all, it was something they had not tried before. Though they weren’t fussy, fresh cat food had an acquired taste, so it took some getting used to. Yet, with some time, they gradually began to give in to temptation. Though KatKin had sent a few flavours over, their favourites were Bubble and Quack, Gobble & Quack. Quack was gently steamed Duck and Chicken, with a green label. Gobble was freshly steamed Turkey that tasted oh so moerish, and Bubble & Quack was Whitefish, Duck and Salmon. A was surprised about Bubble & Quack being such a hit given that Loki normally wasn’t a fan of fish. And yet, the whole lot was gobbled up, before she could say boo.
Loki had a sensitive stomach too as of late, and this was surprisingly gentle. Both kitties were not fussy admittedly, they loved to eat! Still, it was a heartwarming sign to see them licking the bowl clean. There was one extra special treat, that they begged for daily. KatKin’s Chicken sprinkles was a protein boost that the kitties just couldn’t resist. With 100% freeze-dried chicken, she would sprinkle it over their meals, and watch them fall over themselves with happiness. It was amazing how one ingredient had the power to transform a meal.
Bold Cat Feeding Bowls
Mason Cash
It was only natural that Ana’s cat’s were just as colourful as she was. It wasn’t that they were donning ballgowns, and had on fancy tiaras. But it was their personality that sparkled with all the colours of the rainbow. They were playful, vibrant, and were right little characters. They would playfully nip each other in a tug of war, as they fought over food. They would curl up on the sofa next to Ana and Dan, dreaming sweet dreams. Most of all they were loveable fluffy creatures, who deserved to be loved. They would roll onto their bellies, paws in the air, surrendering over to the snuggles, that befolded them. They knew what time it was, it was dinner time!
And yet their feeding time needed an upgrade. It was time to paint the town rainbow, courtesy of Mason Cash. But who was Mason Cash, I hear you ask? Why only a contemporary kitchenware brand, that expanded to include petware too. There would be placemats, for messy eaters, with delightful pawtraits. A matching cat bowl, and cat storage tin was just as delightful. And who could forget the ‘cat face’ bowls for special occasions? The Pawtrait collection made dinner a bright and enjoyable occasion. The Cat Pawtrait Placemat, had an easy to wipe surface which was ideal to clean up after mealtime. After all, her kitties were known for flinging food, as they gulped food hungrily. But mark Ana’s words. It was rare that they would leave a crumb behind.
The Pawtrait Cat Bowl was a real treat too. There were cheeky ginger cats, floral black cats, and gray and white cats, adorned with colourful accessories and background. Ana couldn’t quite imagine Loki with flowers in his hair, but Luna would definitely rock the glasses. She so wanted to dress up her cats, even with something little as a bow tie, but she knew they would be furious. This was the next best thing. From a practicality stand point, the heavy stoneware ensured that the bowl had stability and durability for the most playful cats. The chip resistant bowl, was also dishwasher safe, and was even suitable for use in the freezer.
Like the other Mason Cash bowls, it was endorsed by the RSPCA, meaning animals were healthier, happier, and more colourful than ever before. As for the Mason Cash Pawtrait Cat Storage? What a treat! Literally. Ana was able to hide all their delicious treats inside the colourful tin, and reward them with their wildest dreams. Their wildest dreams being food, food, and more food. Made of coated steel to ensure it has durability, the tin kept all the snacks safe from any burglars that entered their home. Aka the moths, and flies that tried to taunt Luna, and have her crawling up the walls at 3 in the morning. Standard.
When they wanted to change up the bowls, Smokey, and Ginger would save the day. Ginger, and Smokey were the ultimate feline duo. A desperately wanted to add more cats to their growing brood, so this was the next best thing. They lived in a flat, so couldn’t take on anymore cats, but the bowls would do the job. Ginge reminded Dan of his future next cat, while Smokey was reminscient of little Luna. Ana found it oh so amusing to see her two kitties eating off kitty faces, but much to their credit, they didn’t seem confused. Instead they were utterly enthralled.
Boutique Gifts Personalised Feeding Bowls
The kitties, were still peering into their rainbow cat bowl, when they stumbled upon a marvellous idea. What if they could have something personalised? Could they coerce their human into conjuring such a thing? With a tip-tap of their paws they stumbled upon Boutique Gifts, oh what a delight! There were personalized pet feeding bowls, where they could have their names engraved! Could you imagine such a thing?
And thus the Personalised XS Black Wooden Double Feeding Bowl was curated. Loki and Luna, side by side, with their own names engraved with where their food should be. Not that it stopped the cats from stealing each other’s food, but still the novelty was there. Printed in black lettering between the paw prints, it was almost as though the two felines designed it themselves. Though it wasn’t as colourful as some of the cat gift ideas, it was bold in nature. The personalization had character, quirkiness, and uniqueness, which in Ana’s mind was another form of colourfulness. To live a colourful lifestyle, meant to live with meaning.
What’s more the top of the feeder had a waterproof lacquer, to preserve the quality of the personalized gift. The kitties could hardly believe their eyes. Their human mummy had made their dream come true. After all their haggling, and doleful meows, their mum had caved in. Then again, they knew that something as simple as a rub of the leg, or a breathless meow would have the humans under their control. It was that easy. The humans were like putty in their perfectly groomed paws. But it was worth it, the bowls gave them meal-times that were happy, and flavourful. Just the way they liked it!
Quirky Cat Accessories
BSpoiled Rainbow Pet Nest Bed
The cats would sleep anywhere, and everywhere. On the human’s bed, perched atop sleeping chests. In their colourful cat tree, curled up in fluffy balls. On the sofa, one paw outstretched on a human’s lap. Then there was the more obscure. Inside the mop bucket, waiting to be cleaned. On top of Ana’s bookcase nestling between Phillipa Greggory, and Anne O’Brien. But try as they might, they wouldn’t sleep in the cozy pet beds they had brought for them.
So imagine their surprise, when they caught them sleeping together in BSpoiled’s, rainbow pet nest bed! Still to this day, despite having 3 cat beds, this was the only one they would sleep in. Why? Well it was cozy, colourful, and looked like a unicorn, what was not to love? Made from warm arctic velvet and high-elastic sponge material, the bed was oh so soft for her fussy kitties. Sure, they weren’t overly fussy when it came to food. But accessories, and toys was another story entirely. Though they ignored the glorious cat bed at first, over time they became curious. They began exploring. Luna the kitten first, peeking her head into the semi-enclosed pet nest. Later Loki would follow too, and both fell in love.
Emblazoned with twinkling stars, the self-titled ‘calming and anti-anxiety’ bed was a breath of fresh air. It was a colourful cat gift, that was functional too. It had a removable thickened three-dimensional cushion and surrounding windshield to protect pets during the winter, and retain warmth. But even in the spring, or summer, the bed would be just as fabulous. With a detachable and washable design, they could fold and collapse the bed. This was especially helpful, when the cats got fleas, from their visit to the vets. This stopped the breeding of bacteria in the pet house, and protected their physical, and emotional health.
BSpoiled had a range of other pet products that were just as quirky . Though the rainbow pet bed, made the kittens smile with glee, the Interactive Pet Treat Foraging Toy was just as magical. Training her kitties to find and capture treats that were hiding in the weaves of the toy, they were entranced. Luna being the inquisitive kitten that she was, could hardly believe her eyes. She sniffed out the goodies expertly, as though she was foraging in nature. Loki too was intrugued, but he couldn’t get a look in, with Luna carrying the toy around in her mouth. Despite its size dwarfing her, she was in love. Once the kitties were tuckered out for the day, she would reverse the toy, which became its own small storage bag!
Red Candy Giant Carrot Cat Scratcher
When it came to the daring, and the whimsical, Ana had it in spades. So why should her precious pumpkins be any different? There was one more accessory that they needed for their life to be complete. A magical giant carrot cat scratcher, that would keep their claws in ship-shape. Yet she didn’t want just any ol’ cat scratcher. She wanted something that she couldn’t find somewhere else. The carrot scratcher from Red Candy caught her eye immediately. Why? Because Loki was a tiny Tiger, and Loki was a mini-panther. Together they relished meat, just like their Daddy. Ana on the other hand was a raging vegetarian. She had been a vegetarian for 11 years, and did in fact love carrots.
She thought it would be ironic buying a carrot themed toy, because of the joke that veggies and vegans just ate plants. She ate fake meat too, but you get the drill. A loved vegetables like broccoli, carrots, kale, sweetcorn, peppers, and bok choy. Yet the cutest of them all, was undoubtably the carrot, and its matching carrot top. She almost chortled at their stunned expression the very first time that they saw the carrot. They peered into her eyes with puzzlement, this wasn’t the giagantic piece of ham that they had been dreaming about. Once they realized they could sharpen their claws, they came around to the idea pretty sharpish.
Loki in particular would leap up on his hind legs, and excitedly scratch his claws up and down the carrot, as though he was purging his sins. Luna on the other hand was convinced it was prey, that she could attack. Although that might be because she saw a fly one time on top of the carrot scratcher. She ended up furiously chasing it around the room, and getting incredibly vexed when she failed as a cat hunter. As punishment, she gave the carrot the most thorough scratching of its life. Mind you, it wasn’t complaining. Sure real plants, could talk, and communicate with their roots. But since this was a fake carrot, it was doing no such thing!
For Hoomans
And now it was time for the Hoomans to take centre stage. Ana made sure that they would dazzle no matter the occasion, in cat-themed treats that were purr-fect. There were space themed athleisure sets with printed cats floating, for a meowtastic workout session. Jewellery buffs would look down at their cat themed watches fondly. And there was something for ‘human feeding time’ as well. Cat chopstick rests that were oh so cute! Handpicked by Ana, she wanted her colourful cat gift guide to be the talk of the town!
Sous Chef Cat Chopstick Rest Set
Ana knew how to make a statement, and so did her kitties! But when it came to the dinner table, what could she curate, that would remind her of her sleeping beauties? When she came across Sous Chef, and their adorable cat chopstick rest, she knew she had to have them. After all, they would add instant cuteness to her dinner table, and would be a great talking point. Each set included 4 chopstick rests shaped like curled up, sleeping cats, that were precious. Presented in a beautiful black gift box, there were two black, and two white chopstick rests. The black one of course reminded Ana of Loki, the cute little rascal!
With each piece being individually made, it was gorgeous as an ornament, or chopstick holder. For Ana, who was attempting to learn how to eat with chopsticks, she used it both ways. It was not only a great gift for a foodie, but also for cat-lovers. After all, what could be a better combination than cats, food, and cuteness overload? In Ana’s mind, there was nothing more endearing. It was the sleeping cat design, that truly stole Ana’s heart. As a colourful cat gift, nothing was more quirky than sleeping kitties. Why? Because it portrayed them as calm and serene. Sure Loki was a chilled boy. But Luna, she was a wildling. Except when she was asleep or in her ‘meow meow purringtons mood’. Then, she was cuddly, snuggly, and sprawled out without a care in the world.
Lucy Locket Loves
Speaking of quirky, Lucy Locket Loves was famed for having the most colourful and out there prints for loungewear, athleisure, and activewear. From galatic space kitties, to flowers, rainbows, and mermaids, they had something for everyone. Given that she needed a colourful cat gift (albeit for herself), she searched the universe, and found the Galatic Feline Crop Top and matching Active Leggings that were utterly divine. Tongue in cheek, orange, red, blue, and green cat floated in the galaxy, swirls of purple, and blue littered with constellations. The athleisure set was incredibly comfy, and ideal for low impact excercise like Yoga, Pilates, and Meditation.
She would take out her teal mat, and do the Downward Dog, much to the kitties chargrin, who demanded she do the cat pose instead. Sometimes they would join in, both cats sprawled across the mat, demanding attention. I mean, she didn’t blame them. She was dressed as a giant cat after all. A giant space cat, but still! The crop top was in a racer back style that was oh so soft and comfortable. It was the perfect top to work-out in, and if you needed extra support, you could just wear a sports bra underneath. The leggings were equally stretchy, and comfy, and not tight like other workout sets that she had.
She really felt like a space kitty, in her weightless workout set that was oh so glorious. The kitties seemed to agree too; Luna with her back leg outstretched over her head, as she groomed herself. Loki competing with Ana to see who was the longest, as he stretched out langorously. When she took her workout set for a spin, she had some amusing looks. Especially when she paired it with a unicorn flower crown. But she did not care, she was all about living her best life. Whether she was a flower, a cat, a unicorn or a mermaid, she was oh so sparkly.
Toff London
There was one more colourful cat gift that Ana had decreed a neccessity. It was the last missing puzzle piece, that would make her gift guide complete. It was one for the jewellery aficionados, a personalized watch that was a cat lover’s must have. Ginger cats, black cats, and tabby cat’s too, all the kitties popping up on multi-coloured backgrounds. But where would she find a cat-themed watch? Toff London had come to the rescue, and delivered the goods. Like their parent brand Watches2u, Toff was a bespoke watch brand. With a wide choice of strap, case, and design combinations, she could create the perfect cat-lover gift.
It would be the Ladies Black and White Cat Head Watch, that would take her fancy. Her partner’s mum had a beautiful black, and white cat named Billy, that it reminded her of. He was a fluffy creature, who was curvaceous, and chunky yet funky. She customized it with a rose gold case and strap, as well as a blue dial, that made it the most magical of cat watches. Hand illustrated, it had reliable quartz movement, and was even water-resistant to 3ATM! With a durable and interchangeable release strap, the watch was comfy, stylish, and had a 38mm metal case, and metal hands. It was a beautiful watch for all occasions, come rain or shine. She knew that having a feline friend on her arm, would help her keep track of time.
Speaking of time, the colourful cat gift guide had almost come to an end. And yet, she wasn’t done professing her love for the watch just yet. It was charming, eye-catching and had oodles of personality. There were other watch styles too, Beige Tabbies, and Brown Moggies. There was even a Tabby that had red heart shaped sunglasses that wouldn’t be amiss in Ana’s eyewear collection! No matter what kitty you chose, Toff London, had the perfect watch to make all your colourful dreams come true!
