Finding a photographer is no easy feat, trust me I should know. When my photographer was off for two months I panicked and rightly so, where on earth was I going to find a photographer I could afford with no money to my name? I was stressed about the future of my blog and worried that my dreams that I had worked so hard for would all come crashing down. Luckily I found a solution but for many this is not the case. My best friend is in a similar situation and would love to put more ‘professional photography’ on her blog yet she can’t afford it because she has little money to her name. It was when I was looking for solutions to help her out that I came across Bidvine, a service that claimed to find you quotes matching your criteria within minutes. My curiosity was piqued and asked to ‘test out their services for myself’ I was happy to oblige. I wanted to test how effective Bidvine would be for someone on a limited budget but at the same required a photographer who had a niche ‘photography style’and created as many obstacles as I possibly could, so that Bidvine would have to work hard and prove me wrong. I stated that I needed solo portraits and modelling headshots with a range of artistic, high fashion and natural outdoor setting compositions. The final images would need to be online or digital proofs and prints and I bargained that I could travel up to 5 miles to meet the photographer. I also clarified that due to budget limitations I could only shoot in a specific area and not venture outside of it to cut down on costs and would only be able to pay up to £50 for a shoot. Of course I was looking for my friend but as she has limited budget and specific artistic preference I made sure that my answers catered to her very limited needs.
Within moments I had received a direct email from Bidvine to state that although there were not many portrait photographers in my area that were qualified to accommodate all my needs, they stated that they would ‘still try and hustle to get [me] a quote from at least one qualified professional’ by ‘Sunday Morning’. It meant that Bidvine had a footfall of four days, which considering the regimented requirements including limited pricing ( £30-£50), a specific area code and photography type, I was pleased at how quickly Bidvine had emailed me . After consulting with a specialist who suggested I perhaps widen my choices, I got two offers within two days of setting up a quote and they were legitimate offers too. The first was a photographer and visual artist who had experience in high fashion shoots, who stated that she was able to offer £50 per hour, so £100 for two hours which is far more than I would normally pay out and the same for my friend but after looking at her extensive portfolio I realized that she was in fact selling herself short. There is a poignancy and a disturbing sense of grace behind each shot she captures and her ability to meld fine art with portrait photography is a breathtaking talent in itself.
The second photographer was a little more mainstream and stated that his services would cost £100 in total but did not specify whether that would be per hour or for a two/several hours shoot. That being said I was far more impressed with the first photographers work and found his portfolio to be a little amateur considering what he was charging for his photographs. However what Bidvine taught me was that being given quotes from photographers who are interested in your concepts is a far better idea then scrolling through countless websites trying to find a photographer who dosen’t break the bank. By going through Bidvine essentially you can cut out the middle man and feel at peace knowing that Bidvine does the hard work for you. Of course I was being deliberately picky when I was answering their questions to get my quotes because I wanted to see whether they would be able to go outside their comfort zone and find me photographers that were willing to accommodate all my needs and they did their job proficiently and professionally. Even after I had received the quotes spoken about they checked in almost everyday to ask me whether I needed help choosing a photographer or whether I wanted to create a new quote so that they could find me new photographers. Bidvine is a fantastic service and honestly I cannot recommend them enough.
Would You Try Out Bidvine To Cut Out The Middle Man?

What a great post! I blog in the space of food and take all of my own pictures. Honestly .. paying for a photographer wasn’t something even on my radar screen. I have a new level of appreciation for bloggers like yourself .. there are probably more hoops you’re jumping through than I ever realized.
