When I came to London a year and a half ago, I thought that I had found my forever home. Little did I know that in the space of a year, I would move three times, deal with infestation and inappropriate landlords, until I found my perfect home in East London. Near the central line, with a bustling high street and street art nearby, the town suited me down to a T and despite the ups and downs that I have had in the room that I rent, it has been the longest I have stayed in a house for two years, as in January it would have been 10 months since I moved in. I used to dream of how I would decorate my home, there would be colourful, quirky ornaments and paintings would hang on the walls, overlooking bookshelves, straining under the weight of all the books I had in my room. There would be a desk for me, with a hard backed chair and a nearby clock would tick 1,2,3 keeping procrastination at bay. There would be a desk lamp to keep me going through long winter nights as I work on my blog and a mug of steaming cocoa waiting for me to take a break. And thanks to Love The Sign, my dream to decorate my bedroom and turn into my dream room, might just be around the corner.
With Nordic and Scandinavian Interior brands like Normann Copenhagen and Muuto, Love The Sign knows a thing or two about making peoples interior dreams come true. Whether you are after a clock with character based on ‘abstract modernist design’ or are after the nonchalance of ‘hygge’- the Danish ritual of enjoying life’s simple pleasures- Love The Sign has a few tricks up its sleeves that are guaranteed to make all your fantasies come true. When I first came to London, I didn’t even have a wardrobe to call my own and lived in a miniscule box room and now I am dreaming about filling my home with delightful pleasures from Love The Sign, including a desk, a chair, a desk lamp and a shelf to keep my cactus’s and succulents happy once more. But what exactly did I ask the interior God to give me this Christmas?
The ‘Work Desk’ To Turn My Bedroom Into A Mini Office
As strange as it might sound, I have never actually owned a ‘desk’, even when I was at university. Instead I used my bed, tables and sofas to work on my essays, but always craved a desk to call my own. It would be simple and rustic, made from wood oak and stretch out languorously across my room, beckoning me to come forward and test out its ‘working potential power’. I would stop watching shows when I was meant to be doing work and it would help me deal with my ‘back injury’ and allow me to work on my posture, instead of using my bed as a ‘permanent desk’, which as we all know is neither good for ‘concentration levels’ or having a bad back for that matter. But what could be better than a desk for business? Well a desk for pleasure of course, not only does it encourage you to be a faster and more efficient worker but the desk ‘legs’ also have the capacity to double up as mini libraries with the ability to hold a few books, meaning that pleasure is just ‘under the table’. Literally.
Available in soft brown, white, brown and black from Tema Home, Love The Sign
The Hard Backed Chair To Improve My Posture
What desk would be complete without a hard backed chair to add to the collection? It would be minimalist and simple in style and be the additional step that I need to work on my posture. All too often, whether that be on tubes or sitting in bed, I would lay hunched over, old before my time, slumped and lacking in motivation. But a chair on the other hand, what a magical weapon that would be. I would take my chair with me to street art shoots and fly away on the magic carpet that would take me to my mermaid kingdom. I would furrow my brow in concentration as I straddled my chair, churning out countless articles, like a well oiled machine. Most of all I would have a little ‘wee chair’ to call my own, that I could escape to and curl in like a cat if I chose. Now that’s a pleasant thought…
Available From Muuto, Love The Sign in white, grey, red, blue, black and green
The ‘Swell Armchair’ In Grey For Solo Movie Nights
For my age I am considered to be ‘somewhat of an old fart’, as nine times out of ten I would choose a movie night over getting sloshed at a club. But I mean can you really blame me when I drink less than my friends and would rather not spend my night being a babysitter, in case they end up in some random strangers bathtub? Now an armchair on the other hand would be the perfect accompaniment to a movie night in. Whether you are after a Netflix binge session or have plonked yourself in front of the TV for some movies and snuggles (with yourself) then this armchair is the perfect solo partner for you. Whether you are feeling spicy with a red armchair or much more conservative and would rather an armchair as grey as your soul, my buddies at Love The Sign have got scores of armchairs for you!
Available From Normann Copenhagen, Love The Sign in dark grey, orange, blue, brown, grey and green.
The Clock That Helps You Keep Track Of Time
For those who aren’t the best at ‘timekeeping’ (AKA ME) a dandy clock to help you keep track of time is far better than a mobile that will distract you with Tinder Messages popping up every five seconds. Think of all the fun the clock could give you, not only could you time yourself writing articles but you could also race against the clock as you frantically thrust your way through all the Beyonce classics before a night out on the town. OK maybe the second option is a slightly more exciting option but ya know, whatever floats your boat babe.
The BookShelf To House All 5,000 Books
OK that might be somewhat of an exaggeration, I have 1,000 rather than 5,000 books but you ya know being placed on top of my wardrobes and cupboards is not what I would really call a proper ‘housing place’. I used to have the most amazing bookcase when I lived in a house with my friends in third year of university, but sadly it was lost along the way so I am in need of a new bookcase pronto. Whether you prefer traditional wooden bookcases or are more of a fan of coloured bright bookcases that would make any mermaid proud, why not turn your room into a library?Lets face it there is only so much TV that you can watch and swiping through Tinder can get pretty boring. Thus transporting yourself into a magical world back in time, while the world turns to s**t around you sounds like a much better alternative!

The Decorative Coffee Cups That Are Almost Too Pretty To Drink From
Whether you down expresso on the way to work or chug large lattes in an attempt to build up energy for the day ahead, there is the perfect coffee cup for you. As a ‘decaf coffee drinker’ (I am allergic to caffeine), I am partial to a good frothy latte, especially when I have come home and the weather has been tinged with ice and snow. There is nothing better than snuggling under the blankets with a steaming cup of coffee, while you dip cookies absentmindedly. Whether your feeling your coffee in blue to match your mood or in white to compliment your minimalist heart, there is a coffee cup for you!
Available From Normann Copenhagen in blue, pink, grey and white.
The Colourful Pillows That Are Secret Boyfriends In Disguise
Now I don’t know about you but when it comes to pillows you can never have too many and I am seriously lacking in that department. My pillows are deflated and worse for wear, like they have been sneaking alcohol behind my back, which to be honest wouldn’t surprise me! Its time to move ahead with the times and turn my room into the paradise that I desire and what could be better than some colourful printed pillows to bring some vitamin D into my room? Whether you fancy sleeping with a tiger or would rather roost with flamingos there are plenty of furry and non furry friends to keep you company at night. Or if animals drive you crazy and you would rather not wake up to a frog caressing your head, then a plain ol’ floral pillow is guaranteed to do the trick!
Available From Julica and Normann Copenhagen in multiple designs

Oh how I long for a decent desk and chair of my own. I work at the small dining table in our mobile home and it’s far from comfortable. I can’t wait until we buy a house and put an office in for some working space with comfort!

Gorgeous choices! We are decoration our bedroom in the next few months and I am trying to decide on a theme for it. I was going to go with country cottage with lots of florals and white wood, but now I’m thinking something more sleek. Its such a hard choice!
