When it comes to designing our perfect bedroom, there are so many components that we must keep in mind, such as curating a safe space to relax and unwind, personalizing our bedroom to make it look ‘authentic’ and ‘original’ as well as adding special extras like bookcases, glass flooring and any other quirky additions that you feel would make your perfect bedroom complete. For example some of us might choose to use a maximalist approach to designing our bedroom with statement bedding, extravagant lighting and quirky accessories that will turn our bedrooms from drab to fabulous in a matter of seconds. For others their bedroom is minimalist, an elegant space where books are lined up in alphabetical order and the colour scheme of the day is cream and ivory. But for those who like to be a little extra, pops of accent colours to truly show off your personality might be the way forward, with accent walls, colourful bedding and printed wallpaper all part of a colour mavens personal fantasy. Question is which bedroom tribe are you? Are you team Minimalism, team Maximalism or team Colour?
Make Your Bedroom Look Like It Belongs To You Through Personalization
As I mentioned earlier there is no better way to create a perfect bedroom, than through designing something that means something to you. For example as a part time mermaid, unicorn at weekends and maven of colour to create a bedroom that reflects my personality I might have beautiful ‘mermaid cushions’, mermaid bedding, unicorn lights and any other fantastical beasts that want to join the make believe party. And while critics might say that unicorns and mermaids are just for little girls, I disagree; that magical surrealism point of view is part of who I am as a person so naturally my perfect bedroom should reflect those elements of my personality. After all a bedroom without a personality is like a date without a vibe… it just won’t work. Creating the bedroom of your dreams can be made personable through something as simple as accessories: You can utilize wall space with hooks to hang jewellery, shelves for ornaments and books, and hanging pictures and mirrors, while making use of the inside of wardrobe doors for belts and jewellery boxes, allowing you to stow away trinkets in one place, adding a practical yet stylish feature to your perfect bedroom.
However what is important to bear in mind is that while using your own accessories can be a great way of showing off your personality, you have to be selective about what you put on display as otherwise you run the risk of creating a cluttered bedroom that will definitely not come across as very inviting. Another way to personalize your bedroom is through adding photo frames or putting up souvenirs to add some ‘memorabilia’ to your room that means something to you.
Add Something A Little Special Like ‘Glass Flooring’ To Create The Perfect Bedroom
What could be better than a walk on glass flooring, as you imagine a world made out of ice and snow? Or what could be fancier than flooring that you can look through to see the world below? It’s a trippy feeling but adding something a little special like glass flooring can really help you pull together the perfect bedroom. For example not only can ‘walk on glass panels’ be used to increase the amount of natural light flowing through your home but it can also be used to compliment a beautiful feature in your bedroom, especially if the lighting in your room is dark and you want to add some much needed natural light to brighten the room up. Other ways of making your perfect bedroom pop might be through adding quirky bookcases that are akin to the leaning tower of pizza, marble surfaces or ‘hobby accessories’ that demonstrate what you are into. For example if astrology is your thing then you might have a beautiful telescope accentuated by the walk on glass flooring, whereas avid readers might create a cozy reading corner that can turn reading time into a magical and wondrous occasion.
Comfort Is Key Especially In Winter
When it comes to creating your perfect bedroom, nothing says perfection more than ‘comfort’, especially when the weather is freezing cold and there is nothing that you would rather do than slip into your onesie under the blankets and binge watch Ru Paul’s Drag Race. Which is why comfort is key, especially in Winter, as creating an inviting space that will make you feel warm and toasty, is so beneficial for your mental and physical wellbeing. After all no one likes a freezing cold bedroom do they? So whether you grab some fuzzy blankets (or slankets if that is what you are into), add a fireplace or simply light some candles make sure that you make your comfort the key priority this winter. A good way of making a bedroom more comfortable is by being selective with the type of mattress that you choose. For example, if like me you have back problems, it might be worth investing in an orthopedic mattress that can help support your back and joints and relieve the pain that you might get on a daily basis. Not only will this improve the quality of your sleep, but it will also make you feel less stiff, with more energy to do the things that you love.
