There is something so quintessentially British about a staycation, as we settle a little closer to home for a night bedazzled in shining glory. We roam around on Santander Bicycles in the big city, watching as the autumn leaves swirl around our feet, and we take high tea at the Grosvenor House Hotel, sipping on a delicate infusion of apples laced with spice, a heady aroma. We nibble on crustless finger sandwiches, oozing with tomato and pesto and we lick cream cake off our fingertips, as our very British adventure begins. The wind whips through our hair until it becomes a tangled mess, and we laugh at the children swinging through the trees, reminiscing about a time where we were once kids who saw the world through rose tinted glasses. Sepia tones overrode our emotions as we sauntered through a world that fringed our internal reality, flitting between fancy hotel suites and luxury apartments, popping cherries in our greedy mouths. We would play at being adults in grand homes that were our own for a night, stonebaked pizzas in waiting ovens, crisp salad on the table, tomatoes plump and juicy. There would be a bottle of wine on the table, hedonistic red liquid that slipped down our throats like velvet, dark cherries to taste. And when our staycation came to an end, we would dream of a day where we would plunge into luxury once more, treated like the Kings and Queens that we deserved to be. And it was a magical thought.
Which is where Faded Spring’s guide to ‘luxury apartments’ in London comes in; from the dreamy Fraser Suites in South Kensignton, enshrouded in royal purple, to Blacksquare Apartments in the heart of Fitzrovia, here are three luxury apartments in London that are guaranteed to take your breathe away. Question is which apartment will you choose?
1.Fraser Suites In South Kensignton (Serviced Apartments London)
You scour through a website that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, richly swathed king size beds, accentuated by rich brown and purple decor. The pillows look plump and the bed looks ready to sleep in, as you devour an entire box of Margarita pizza, washed down with a classic mojito cocktail. You watch guilty pleasures on the television directly opposite your bed and snuggle under blankets with a new-found lover, making the most of your time away from the real world, where you can just be in each others arms, basking in the glow of a honeymoon romance. While the world outside is coated in frosted snow, you engulf yourself in warm waiting arms, relaxing under the scepter of the silvery half moon that sways absentmindedly outside your window, it’s a beautiful sight. R’N’B tunes sigh softly on the radio in the background, and you dance through each others dreams, a shiver in your step. You slip into the bathroom and massage each other gently, easing out the knots and tension that lies bubbling underneath the surface like popping candy. You shake your hair out like a dog who got caught in the rain, laughing at the bedraggled mess that you have both become.
But in the heat of the moment, it does not matter, laced with poignancy and without regret, taking turns to bounce on the beds, until you can jump no more. A child-like fervor runs through Fraser Suites in South Kensignton, as you emerge for breakfast in the Dining Room, devouring the hot buffet, continental breakfast and fresh pastries with feverish hunger, as your stomachs gurgle in protest. Later that day you share quiet drinks at Magenta the ‘Lobby Bar’ watching as the international wine list dances along the table, employing to fall into its welcoming arms. Allured by the scent of red, you share a quiet moment apart from the crowd, a welcome respite from the business of Central London, that you so lovingly scoured.
2. Blacksquare Apartments (Multiple Locations)
In the heart of Fitzrovia you discover a hidden gem, luxury apartments bordering on minimalism and elegance, designed with best friends in mind. You have a girl’s night in, taking advantage of the soothing tranquility of the apartment, as you pour each other wine, Love Island humming along in the background. Blacksquare’s Apartments were no stranger to providing a calm, relaxing space to escape from the hustle and bustle of Central London’s heaving streets. The plants were a soothing presence in the open minimalism of The Fitzroy’s luxury serviced apartments, succulents and banana leaf fronds, plants big and small in the Blacksquare Kingdom. Friend’s frazzled nerves were calmed by the greenery that was juxtaposed by plush blue sofas, and they lay transfixed in a dream like stupor, as the girls night in was filled with love and light.
Two friends came together for one night only, with the full moon high in the sky, up all night talking until the light poured through the windows once more. One by one a dip in the bath was a must, running the taps over weary toes, painting nails in the marble bathroom. The friends sang softly among themselves, a morning lullaby if you will, watching the water cascade like a waterfall down their waiting legs. Later that week when the deadlines were piling high on their desks they smiled with childlike wonder as they remembered the night that they stayed in luxury apartments in Fitzrovia, where all was calm, all was bright.
3. Luxury Serviced Apartments (Various Locations)
A newly wed couple looks into each others eyes for the first time as husband and wife, adoration coursing through every fibre of their body. They never thought that the time would come when they would meet their soulmate, but the connection came to them when they least expected it, friends for several years. They thought about the start of a magical honeymoon, where they would adventure into the world of travel, paying homage to the past kings and queens of Egypt, dancing along the River Nile. But for now, their time as husband and wife began in the luxury serviced apartments in Mayfair, where they would dream of the rich and famous who walked these very streets, Coco Chanel, Queen Elizabeth II, the late great Jimi Hendrix. They took a chance in the Grosvenor House Suites by Jumeirah a prime spot to enjoy the views across to Hyde Park, weaving in and out of the Serpentine, like school children once more.
The interiors are monochromatic but nevertheless impressive, clean lines that were made to photograph. The happy couple spend many pleasurable hours here enjoying each other’s company, watching as the day fades into night, a midnight blue that casts a shadow that engulfs them in a romantic light. There are dinners by the candlelight, feeding each other strawberries laced with cream, and like the classic tale of ‘Lady and the Tramp’ their lips come together almost clumsily as they slurp on spaghetti, tomato sauce around their mouths, dripping down their chin. Later that evening they hold each other tight, whispering that they will never let each other go, bound together for the rest of their lives.
