Living Art
‘Coloured air awakening your senses, in the visual valley you feel alive,
Political sensitization, in art we can find the true meaning of deprivation,
Hard hitting artistic license, blood spattered craftmanship,
Disposable creativity washed away by authoritarian rule, in painted metaphors,
At night we are awake’
Since being founded in 2010 Instagram has become the fastest growing platform for bloggers to drive traffic to their websites. Curated purely via visual content, a prestigious blogger must ensure that his or her photos have the power to draw in thousands of likes, comments and views without relying on the power of their words. There are two types of Instagram bloggers: The ‘Instagrammer to Blogger’ and Blogger to Instagrammer. The ‘Instagrammer to Blogger’ originally began on Instagram and once they built their following transferred over to a blog, bringing their followers with them. A clever method of building a fan base quickly most Instagram bloggers create a blog that is centered primarily around visual content, with few written words. As their fanbase was curated on Instagram they understand that most of their followers are interested in visual rather than written content. In contrast the ‘Blogger to Instagrammer’ began posting on their blog before creating a seperate Instagram account that either correlates with the posts that are posted each day or is a seperate entity entirely not tying into the ethos of their blog brand. Whichever camp you fall into the power of Instagram is undeniable. Find out below who my favourite Instagram bloggers are and why they speak so deeply to my own personal ethos.
1. Nyane Lebojoa
Alongside her twin Instagram blogger and digital media influencer Mpho Lebojoa, Nyanne draws influence from 90’s punk minimalism with a modern urban edge. Nyanne sees diveregnce as the key to becoming a successful fashion icon and is unafraid to take risks.Think editorial fashion meets wearable ‘grunge chic’ with a hint of a Riveria chic and you have a flavour of Nyane’s account. Nyane’s rose to fame through her joint account with Mpho on Tumblr posting notes about their personal style in 2013 and since then her profile has gone from strength to strength.
No matter what Nyane wears she looks impeccable and her modelling skills alone blows most bloggers out of the water. Her trademark ‘silver-grey locks’ contrasted against her caramel skin is striking while her feline ‘cat-winged eyes’ is reminicient of a feline stalking its prey. Bold, unique and inspired by Janet Jackson, Nyane was clearly born in the wrong era. At the tender age of 18 Nyane burst onto the scene with the aspirations of becoming a modern Grace Jones, citing her as a musical and performative influence. Grace Jones would blur the boundaries between masculinity and femininity and this is an ethos that Nyane buys into.

2. Elizabeth Keene
Delicately feminine Keene’s style is synonmous with the image of a 50’s siren. Floral midi skirts and soft pastel colours brighten up dreary winter days while her simple beauty radiates through her winning smile. Citing the 30’s and 40’s as the inspiration behind her obsession with vintage silhouettes, each outfit transcends the modern era and brings vintage back to the fashionsphere. As well as her role as fashion blogger Keene is a revered personal stylist who can take you from drab to zero in a matter of minutes. From the moment she left college Elizabeth curated her knowledge of fashion into an accessible medium for her audience to enjoy, using both superb visual and written content.
Naturally beautiful, Elizabeth is a firm believer in less is more and does not over-complicate her ootd’s to demonstrate a realistic interpretation of everyday wear.

3. Viva Luxury
Founder of Viva Luxury Annabelle Fleur remains true to her brands namesake by curating luxurious NYC wear. Like the Big Apple, Viva Luxury is slick and streamlined with neutral hues and glossy accessories taking centre stage. Classic good looks and artistic photography is what makes Annabelle one of the most sought out bloggers in the world and her appreciation of luxury wear acts out every womans fantasy. Annabelle’s versatility means that she is not tied down to one trend and enables us her to target all audiences. From multi-tonal layering to a covetable shoe collection Annabelle is a rising star.

4. The Bear Girl
Rejecting the social norm Diana Iordachioaia founded ‘The Bear Girl’ with the intention of creating a ‘dreamers paradise’. Diana’s personal style is reflective of this surreal reality, where dreamy pinks integrate into blurred backgrounds and the boundaries between masculine and feminine wear are erased. A good blogger friend of mine, Diana seeks personal opinion when curating her wardrobe and relies on the promience of current trends to put together outfits.
5. Nadadelle
Blogger and model Nadadelle is impeccably chic combining elegant evening wear with modern urban edge. Her eye for style has seen her blog recieve over 10.4 million views on Google as well as 119,000 followers on Instagram. Her most recent collaborations have included creating content for hundreds of credible brands, being the official blogger for the Ralph and Russo couture show, as well as sitting front row for designers such as Judy Wu, Gyunel, Felder Felder while gathering the action for Grazia Magazine. Neutral hues such as camel and blush pink form the forefront of Nadadelle’s style while stand out signature accessories such as ‘mirrored sunglasses’ and lace-up mules make Nadadelle one classy icon.
