Out of frugality came Firmoo, the most popular discounted online eye-wear brand in the United States. After years of expertise in the optical industry, the founders of Firmoo conducted a survey to evaluate the efficiency of the optical industry in the US to glean what changes the optical industry needed to target its consumers more effectively. One of the predominant inefficiencies that Firmoo found was that there was a divide between retail costs and consumers costs which left customers paying $100’s when retailers made them for significantly less money. With customers being pushed into buying prescription glasses and sunglasses because of its ‘label’ Firmoo understood that a change needed to be made and set up an online optical store bypassing expenses ‘incurred in the brick and mortar’ stores. Creating a ‘harmonious’ collaboration between optical experts direct manufacturers and their overseas laboratories, Firmoo offers their customers affordable eye-wear.
The ethos is simple; frugal living made stylish with each individual pair of sunglasses/eyeglasses made in the heart of frugality. Economically viable, Firmoo’s collection of eyeglasses and sunglasses start at £12.18 ($19.00) for both prescription and non-prescription glasses and its most expensive eye-wear price is £25.00 ($39.00) for high quality resin lenses (CR-39) with anti-scratch hard coating.. At no extra cost the resin lenses are brought from the same factories that produce 60 % of the world’s optical lenses and come with a free hard protective spectacle case, glasses bag and pieces of micro-fiber lens cloth. There is also a repair kit with screws, screwdrivers and replacement pads which will come in useful if any sunglasses break or become damaged.
My Review
When Firmoo contacted me to review a free pair of sunglasses I was hooked immediately. As someone who owns over 50 pairs of sunglasses I have my favorites and it takes a very special pair of sunglasses to knock those sunglasses out of the water. Firmoo did the unthinkable and replaced my obsession with ‘Quay Australia’, offering me lenses that were 30% cheaper with greater depth and intense polarization. As I scrolled page after page I was struck by how each pair of sunglasses/glasses were at the average price rate of £20.03 ($29.00) and was immediately won over. In the end I chose purple sunglasses with black matte lenses (£12.18) as I did not own a single pair of purple sunglasses and wanted something different. I made the right choice, not only were the sunglasses economically viable but they were superior in quality to other major sunglasses brands including Quay Australia at a fraction of the price. As someone who graduated last summer from university I am in debt and it is good to know I can still shop for the things I love at discounted prices. When I chose the sunglasses I was not expecting much having already had experiences with other ‘discounted’ eye-wear brands who sent me sunglasses that looked nothing like their pictures but I was pleasantly surprised.
Taking six days to arrive it came inside a gorgeous sunglasses hard case with a unique ‘map’ design and the promised glasses bag in black velvet to offer further protection from the elements. I was so enthralled with the map case that on first viewing the black matte sunglasses seemed average until the Sunday where I shot the sunglasses and suddenly the polarized lens had come to life. With most pair of sunglasses I have to tilt my head at a certain angle for the lens to catch the light but that was not the case with Firmoo’s black matte pair. Each shot was dimensional, engaging and captivating and the sunglasses took center stage. It was magical and I fell in love right there, dreaming of a magical world where sunglasses rule the roost. But back to reality the black matte sunglasses were slightly too big for my face so I adjusted the nose pads and the difference was palatable, it added definition to my long oval face and gave the illusion of me having razor sharp cheekbones. All without needing to contour the black matt sunglasses adjusted to my face shape and softened it rather than making it more elongated than it already is a common feature of sunglasses.
As I have a small face it is sometimes hard to find a pair of sunglasses that does not drown out my features or make me look like I have no eyebrows but Firmoo fit the brief perfectly. Blowing my expectations out of the water not only was it shipped fast, in good quality packaging and beautiful to look at it was practical too. Comfortable on the bridge of my nose there was no need for me to keep putting the sunglasses in the right position as it fit me perfectly once I had tweaked the nose pads and looked stylish at the same time. Sometimes I find sunglasses can rub the bridge of my nose and leave it red but there was no marks on my nose once I had removed the sunglasses and it remained in perfect condition. I am so thankful that Firmoo wanted to work with me and having low expectations of the brand only served to prove how you should never judge a book by its cover which I was guilty of doing. Why did I choose to work with them if my expectations were ‘meh’ I hear you ask? Because I will always give brands a chance to prove me wrong and boy was I wrong.
I was so pleased that my sunglasses were everything I wanted and more that teamed up with Firmoo to treat you my readers. Want a slice of Firmoo action? Then guess what I have teamed with the iconic sun-wear brand to offer all of you ( yes all of you) a free pair of prescription glasses. Just use this code Analblog2 and click HERE to order a free pair. Unfortunately I couldn’t snag you a pair of free sunglasses but for those of you who wear glasses free frames would come in handy and believe me I am thinking about buying a pair for myself. Geek chic is huge right now with the prominence and popularity of Gucci whose S/S 16 and A/W 16’s catwalks were awash with pussy bow blouses, printed waistcoats, glasses with thick retro frames and patterned suit skirts
.Final Thoughts
Firmoo’s sunglasses combines its laboratory experience with observatory homages to current eye-wear trends all at rock bottom prices. High quality, discounted and offering a wide range of eyewear why shop elsewhere when all sunglasses are £25 and under?
